Individual Reflection 1

1,　I learned that Mrs. Duquette was able to realize her vision because she gained a wealth of knowledge and understanding of alcohol and the cultures of various countries through her many experiences. She traveled to many countries, including the Netherlands, England, and Canada, and communicated with many people. She gained a lot of experience, deepening her knowledge of wine and alcohol and becoming the number one salesman.  I believe that these experiences enabled her to found Niigata Sake Lovers and spread the word about local sake to the world through activities such as sake-brewing experiences and the production of videos conveying the appeal of local sake. I learned that it is important to communicate with people through English and have an ambitious attitude to try various things.

2,   What impressed me about Mrs. Duquette's sake project was the sustainability aspects of the supply chain and reuse. When we think about food in our project, we try to look closely at where the ingredients are produced and grown. Also, when I think about products, I try to avoid wasting resources by thinking about whether they can be reused or recycled after use.

　　3,    What impressed me about the presentation was that it was hard work and effort to make things, and it was about meaning in life. Through the experience of sake brewing, the foreigners learned that it is very hard work and requires a lot of hard work. I heard in the presentation that this experience made them stop chugging alcohol and instead try to savor the taste of the drink. This made me want to be grateful to the people who made the products around me and use them with care. I was also told that ikigai is the intersection of the four things: love, good, paid for, and need. Mrs. Duquette's ikigai was about alcohol. It seemed to enrich her life. In order to live a better life, I would like to find a purpose in life that meets the criteria in this chart too. These two things have helped me to shape my attitude towards things and give me advice for my life.
