I will introduce about the news: 「Denmark to raise retirement age to 70, sparking concern and opposition.」in this week.
On the 22nd, the Danish parliament passed a bill to raise the age at which workers can retire and receive a pension to 70 for those born after 1971.
Currently, the retirement age in Denmark is 67, but life expectancy has increased to nearly 82, and the government has announced a policy to gradually raise the retirement age in response to this situation.
In contrast, in a public opinion poll conducted last year, more than 70% of respondents said they were worried about whether they would be able to continue working until retirement age.
As Europe faces an aging population, a growing number of countries are raising the retirement age to the late 60s in order to maintain their pension systems, but local media reports that Japan's retirement age of 70 is the latest in Europe.
In order to maintain the pension system, I believe that raising the retirement age would be an effective measure, while also taking into account the burden on young people. However, as local people say, depending on the job, continuing to work until the age of 70 can be physically demanding. Therefore, it may be difficult to continue working until age 70 in demanding occupations such as construction, medicine, and education. Although there will likely be criticism, varying the retirement age depending on the occupation may be effective.
I think it's a good thing for people who are able to work because they can work longer hours, but I don't think it's good for people whose jobs require physical strength.
返信削除Japan is also facing the problem of an aging population. What will happen if the retirement age is raised to 70? I think it would be good to take the recent European example as a reference.
返信削除Raising the retirement age due to aging is a problem facing Japan as well. I want to find a solution that both young people and the elderly agree with.
返信削除I had never thought of the idea of changing the retirement age depending on the type of job. I felt a little relieved to learn that pension issues are occurring in countries other than Japan, and that Japan is not alone. I became interested in the solutions in other countries.
返信削除As another classmate commented, I also agree that adjusting the retirement age based on occupation type is a good and reasonable idea.
